MY MISSION: Since we are little, women normalize conversations about the physical appearance. We learn that in order to be accepted or loved we must be beautiful. This is a great burden and suffering. In addition, advertising and publicity bombard us with images that sexualize and objectify us, promoting an unattainable canon of beauty that makes us feel inadequate. It is a burden that all women carry and it is very difficult to turn off that message in our heads. If we add to this that culturally we are taught to be caregivers, in the end we end up forgetting about ourselves. Therefore, as a result of my own experience and my training as a psychologist and anthropologist and my desire to be an agent of change and help for other women, these therapeutic, emotional and artistic photography sessions arise.
WHAT ARE THEY? It is an intimate photographic experience, in which there is a process of change through it, moving from the fear and vulnerability of facing something unknown, to feeling like the center of all attention and more courageous, relaxed, comfortable and beautiful. It is an experience of self-knowledge, self-affirmation, EMPOWERMENT and relaxation through photography. Almost 10 years ago, I discovered how in difficult moments of my life, self-portraying helped me to heal, to transcend the moment I was living and to express my emotions out. Since then, I have not only incorporated it into my artistic projects, but also in my workshops and photo sessions, so that other women can benefit from it. For me it is a difficult experience to explain, that is why the testimonials of my clients are the best way to get closer to what I do and its benefits as it´s an experience that has to be lived.
When? We agree on the date you want. Where? Donostia-San Sebastian (Spain) but open to hiring internationally. How and where? First we meet to get to know each other better, wherever you want. Later, on the day we agree, I go to your house or to a special place for you (a garden, a park...) because, thanks also to my training in anthropology, my method is "participant observation". In other words, to get photos of psychological depth, I consider that it is necessary to become closely familiar with the person by visiting their environment and being part of it, since it helps to show ourselves as we are, without poses or studio artifices. From there, we begin to work in a comfortable and trustworthy environment, which is yours. Improvise, play, let yourself go... all this will help you to explore new behaviors, new facets that can promote new behaviors or new practices and help you get to know yourself better. How long is the session? There are several options: ESSENTIAL, REPORTAGE AND SLOW PHOTOGRAPHY. - 2h or all day (max. 5h) Here is the especial part of my proposal, hence the name "slow". I offer you a wide, calm and unhurried session (max 6h). We will both work for as long as it takes because each person is different and needs time to open up to the other's gaze. Generally in this type of session, I combine exterior and interior because people have both parts and it is important to give space for them to express themselves from an intimacy towards a more playful and free expansion.
